Lancel Laudethaire was born in the fortress city of Parravon and raised in a noble family. Quickly mastering the ability to train and ride Pegasi he eventually became the chosen champion of Parravon, riding to battle on his trusty Pegasus steed. After fighting many battles for the Duchy of Bordelaux, his mount was killed in combat. Laudethaire searched far and wide for a replacement before finding an unruly hippogryph that none could control. Using his superior skill with beasts he was able to bond with the magnificent creature, earning him an even greater reputation within the Duchy. When Duke Frederick passed away, the vote from the Damsels of the Grail was unanimous in the decision to place Laudethaire upon the throne as Duke of Bordelaux. Known throughout the land for his heroic deeds he quickly became adored by the general peasant populace, earning him the endearing title of Duke Laudethaire the Beloved.
